What is the CO2-DETECT simulator?

CO2-DETECT is a reusable simulated colourimetric CO2 detector designed for healthcare simulation, airway management and intubation training. It recreates the visual colour-change behaviour associated with exhaled CO2 detection, helping learners practise recognising and responding to airway placement cues in a realistic training environment.

Inspired by familiar clinical detector formats, CO2-DETECT supports more authentic manikin-based and simulated patient scenarios while remaining purpose-built for education rather than clinical use.

Using the Innov2Learn app, instructors can wirelessly control the simulated detector response, including membrane starting colour, ending colour and breathing rate. This allows scenarios to be adjusted in real time and aligned with specific teaching objectives.
