Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement

This voluntary statement is published in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It outlines the steps taken by us, as a registered company and employer, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business, customers, and supply chains.

About The SimulationCollective and SimulationMan Ltd

The SimulationCollective and SimulationMan Ltd was established in January 2021 and is registered in the UK. We supply medical education products for healthcare education in the UK and internationally.

We consult with customers and manufacturers to provide expert advice on developing and using products within healthcare education. We promote collaboration and innovation to enhance training for healthcare students and professionals, positively impacting patient outcomes.

Commitment to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015

We are committed to the abolition of modern slavery and human trafficking. As an equal opportunities employer, we ensure a non-discriminatory and respectful workplace.

Our recruitment and people management processes guarantee all employees are legally entitled to work in the UK and protected from abuse or coercion during employment.

Modern Slavery Policies and Codes of Conduct

Our policies explicitly include the following provisions:

  • Adherence to local and national laws
  • Freedom of workers to terminate employment
  • Freedom of movement
  • Freedom of association
  • Prohibition of violence, harassment, and intimidation
  • Prohibition of worker-paid recruitment fees
  • Prohibition of compulsory overtime
  • Prohibition of child labour
  • Prohibition of discrimination
  • Prohibition of the confiscation of workers’ identification documents
  • Access to remedy, compensation, and justice for victims of modern slavery

These policies are supported through effective communication, ongoing training, and are embedded as standard practice across our organisation and supply chains. We ensure that the relevant staff are trained to understand, implement, and uphold these policies.

Communication and Training

We acknowledge the importance of making modern slavery policies available and understood by all employees and workers in our supply chain. Relevant staff members receive specific training on our modern slavery policies and are equipped to identify and respond to risks.

Additionally, we are committed to ensuring that high-risk suppliers:

  • Are contractually required to adhere to our modern slavery policies
  • Receive appropriate training on these policies

This approach helps to embed responsible practices throughout our supply chains.

Purchasing Practices and Procurement Process

We actively assess our purchasing practices to identify whether any may exert undue pressure on suppliers that could contribute to modern slavery risks. This includes evaluating pricing strategies, lead times, and contract terms to promote sustainable and fair supplier relationships.

We consider modern slavery risks at every stage of our procurement process, including:

  • Needs identification
  • Requirement definition
  • Tender evaluation
  • Contract award
  • In-life contract management
  • End of contract review

By integrating modern slavery considerations throughout procurement, we aim to reduce risks and promote ethical supply chains.

Supply Chain Risk Identification and Due Diligence

We have measures in place to identify at-risk areas and vulnerable groups within our supply chains. We regularly review our suppliers and investigate potential modern slavery risks to improve due diligence.

Furthermore, we recognise the value of collaborating with non-governmental organisations

(NGOs) and other businesses to enhance our efforts in preventing and mitigating modern slavery risks.

We are committed to implementing due diligence measures to prevent debt bondage, including:

  • Integrating safeguards into company policies
  • Raising awareness and building capacity among staff
  • Screening and monitoring recruitment agencies and labour providers
  • Undertaking corrective and system improvement actions
  • Participating in multi-stakeholder initiatives

Reporting and Response

We maintain clear processes to respond promptly and effectively to reports of suspected modern slavery. Our response framework aligns with best practice to ensure confidentiality, support for victims, and corrective action.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

To continually improve our anti-slavery efforts, we are developing KPIs to monitor the effectiveness of our policies and practices. These indicators will guide future action plans and ensure accountability.

Supply Chain and Clients

Our supply of goods and services is mainly to institutions related to Health Education England (HEE) and the National Health Service (NHS), which publish their own modern slavery statements that we follow.

Their statements can be found here: https://www.england.nhs.uk/safeguarding/slavery-human-trafficking-statement/
